Georgia A. Sotiropoulos

Ipswich — Georgia A. (Argeropoulos) Sotiropoulos, 86, wife of the late Fotis A. Sotiropoulos, died Wednesday morning September 25, 2013, in her home peacefully after a brief illness. Born in Ipswich on February 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Panayota (Dromparas) Argeropoulos.

She was a lifelong resident of Ipswich and was a very active member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich. She and her husband were married in Ipswich on June 29, 1946.

Mrs. Sotiropoulos was formerly employed at Sylvania of Ipswich for over 20 years. She was a member of the Church’s Alpha Omega Society. Mrs. Sotiropoulos was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was predeceased by her husband Fotis on July 3, 1984.

Mrs. Sotiropoulos is survived by her 2 daughters and their husbands, Jayne and William Ballard of Kittery, Maine, Pamela and John Diakun of Glastonbury, Conn.; her 4 grandchildren, Peter S. Ballard, Christopher L. Arvanites, John Fotis Diakun and Jessica Lara Diakun; her 3 great-grandchildren, William Ballard, Cameron Arvanites and Leila Arvanites. Mrs. Sotiropoulos is also survived by her brother, Harry Argeropoulos of Ipswich and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Elaine Arvanites, formerly of Ipswich; her 2 brothers, James Argeropoulos, formerly of Columbus, Ga., and Nicholas Argeropoulos, also formerly of Ipswich and her 3 sisters, Sylvia Lampropoulos, Mabel Argeropoulos and Stella Argeropoulos, all formerly of Ipswich.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1st, at 10:00 A.M. at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Monday, September 30th, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
