George Manos, 84


Peabody MA — George Manos, 84, of Peabody, died on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Seacoast Nursing Home in Gloucester. He was the husband of the late Carolyn (Rantz) Manos, who died in 1997. He was born in Peabody on November 14, 1928, and was the son of the late Apostolas and Stella (Kopetanan) Manos. He had resided in Peabody most of his life.

He was a 1947 graduate of Peabody High School, and later entered the U.S. Air Force in 1950, serving four years in the Korean War, prior to his discharge in 1954.

He then worked at the E.G.&G. Engineering Co. in Salem for 30 years, moving up to a supervisor prior to retiring in 1986.

George enjoyed doing gardening around his house, and had been a member of St. Vasilios Church, Peabody.

He leaves a brother, James Manos of North Andover; and his dear friend, Gene Lang; his daughter, Pam and husband, Tom; his neighbor and caretaker, Patty Lopes, all of Peabody; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by many other brothers, and a sister.

ARRANGEMENTS: A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 , from 4 to 7 p.m., with services at 7 p.m., at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. A private burial will be held on Thursday at the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
