SALEM — Mr. Francis Walter Preczewski, Jr., 69, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, beloved husband of Cynthia (Hoar) Preczewski, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, following a lenghty illness at Continuing Care at Brooksby Village in Peabody.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Francis and Theresa (Callahan) Preczewski. He was raised and educated in Salem, attended the former St. Mary’s Grammar School, and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1962. He continued his education, earning his degree in Fire Science from North Shore Community College.
Fire Inspector Preczewski began a career serving the public as a fire fighter with the City of Salem that would last for over 34 years. At the time of his retirement, Fire Fighter Preczewski held the position as City Fire Inspector. Fire Fighter Preczewski always placed the lives of the residents of the City of Salem and his brother fire fighters above all else.
A long-time communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem, Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veragua Council #76 in Salem where he served as the past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Father Gabriel 4th Degree and served as a Past Grand Knight. He was also a long-time member of the Local 1780 Fire fighters Association and served his country as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard as a Corporal for six years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping, yet his family was the most important to him.
In addition to his loving wife, Frank is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Meilleur of Las Vegas, Nev.; his son, Ryan Francis Preczewski and his wife, Jennifer, of Westfield, Ind.; his grandson, Shawn Francis Preczewski; his sister, Cheryl A. Derosa and her husband, Anthony, of Lynn; his brother, Edward A. Preczewski and his wife, Pam, of Windham, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Eileen M. Kane and Robert J. Preczewski.
