Marblehead — Mrs. Mary Cornell Park of Marblehead died on Friday, November 23, 2012, at Mass. General Hospital, Boston. She was 63. The beloved wife of William H. Park for 35 years, she was born in Washington, D.C., to the late George L. Cornell and to Helen P. Cornell.

A graduate of Sidwell Friends School and Wells College, she worked for several years in administrative and lobbying roles for New England Merchants Bank, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Community College System before raising her family.

Mary had many interests, including reading, politics, sailing, music, tennis, and golf. Best known for her clever wit, she loved bringing together her family and friends in Marblehead and in Chautauqua, N.Y., where she had spent most of her summers since childhood. She was a member of Old North Church in Marblehead, and of the Tedesco Country Club, the Chautauqua Golf Club, and the Eastern Yacht Club. She supported the arts, especially as expressed at the Chautauqua Institution.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, William H. Park Jr. of Somerville, Douglas C. Park of Marblehead; her brother, George L. Cornell Jr. and her mother, Helen P. Cornell both of Bethesda, Md.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Thursday, November 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Old North Church in Marblehead on Friday, November 30, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, NY 14722.
