Gillian Tyrrell Hoyt, 100


Beverly Farms — Mrs. Gillian Tyrrell Hoyt, 100, formerly of Redding, CT, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, following a long and adventurous life and a peaceful ending, for which her family is grateful.

Born in England, she lived in Hong Kong and found refuge in America during World War II. Gillian was an artist and an avid gardener, surrounding her home with cottage gardens.

She was the devoted wife to the late Tom Hoyt who was past president of the New York Athletic Club and was the love of her life. She will be remembered for her impeccable manners, classy style and unending energy. She was often quoted saying “better no company than the wrong company.”

She is survived by her son, Peter Creamer; two daughters, Carole “Baba” Davenport and Candace Sweet; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews around the world. She was also the mother of the late actress, Susan Tyrrell.
