Peabody — Barbara Ann (Harrington) Anastopoulos, 77, of Peabody, died Wednesday afternoon at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Andrew Anastopoulos.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Sarah A. Harrington. She was raised and educated in Beverly and attended St. Mary’s parochial school in Beverly. Upon marrying her husband, Andrew, she moved to Peabody where she has lived for the past 59 years.
Barbara was employed as a nurse assistant at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody for 23 years, and upon retiring, she remained as a part-time receptionist there as well.
Barbara was very active in Peabody politics and was friendly with many elected officials, past and present.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Deborah Anastopoulos of Danvers, a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Thomas McNiff of Salem, and is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Anthony “Tony” and Kellie Ann Anastopoulos who preceded her in death in 2004.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 9 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
