Peabody — Mrs. Esther L. (Robbins) Humphries, age 93, of Peabody, formerly of Lynnfield, died on Monday, December 30, 2013, at Union Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Humphries.
Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Ruth (LeBaron) Robbins. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1937. She had lived in Lynnfield for 57 years prior to moving to Peabody in 2005.
Esther had volunteered for 24 years at Union Hospital in the surgery unit. A member of the Grace United Methodist Church, she enjoyed traveling, reading, playing the electric organ, television, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Donald Humphries and his wife, Wilma, of Oregon, Diane Simonsen and her husband, Peter, of Beverly, Pamela Gregory and her companion, James Kidney, of Berwick, Maine, and Paul Humphries and his wife, Catherine, of Peabody; three grandchildren, Paul Humphries Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Lynn, Elizabeth Humphries of Chicago, and Randall Gregory and his wife, Nicole, of Beverly; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was also the sister of the late Carolyn MacKenzie and Elizabeth Foulger.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 11am in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, (Route 129), Lynn, followed by burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
