Robert Smith, 74


Ossipee, NH — Robert “Smitty” Harold Smith, 74, of Nichols Rd., died on January 9, at his home in Ossipee.

Born in Salem, Mass., on February 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Harold and Jeanette (Bousquet) Smith. He lived in Salem most of his life, moving to Ossipee in 1995.

Smitty owned MS Auto in Peabody, Mass., and Transmission Plus. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, he worked as a mechanic at Salem Oil Grease, and most recently working for Maine Gas in West Ossipee.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty (Gould) Smith. He is survived by four sons, Wayne of Salem, Robert of Rowley, Mass., Raymond of Ossipee, and Eric of Florida; three stepdaughters, Denise Bennett of Tamworth, N.H., Debra Miller of Peabody, Mass., and Darlene Loft of Wakefield, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph of Lynn, Mass., and Lawrence of Massachusetts; a sister, Nancy Armstrong of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren, Samantha, Aaron, Steven, Craig, Ryan, Amber, Malachi, Reese, Blake, Ashtean, Korbyn, Heather Higgins, and Michael Higgins.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no services planned.

The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee, N.H., is assisting the family with the cremation.
