Robert L. Marsella, 75

Hamilton — Robert L. Marsella, 75, of Hamilton died Sunday, February 17, 2013, after a hard-fought battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of Louis and Lena Marsella. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1954, then spent time in the Naval Reserve Submarine Division and Massachusetts National Guard. He earned a degree in computer science from Boston University and continued to be a lifelong student, taking courses in all of his areas of interest. As a young man he graduated from the apprentice program at GE Aircraft Engines in Lynn and after a long career at both GE and Sylvania in Ipswich, he retired in 1999. After retirement, he continued to stay active through volunteer work at Salem Hospital in the Development Office and assisting his brother Gerry with land-surveying. He was an avid tennis player, cyclist, golfer, bird-watcher, war history buff and a devoted dad and Grampy.

He is survived by his daughters, Maureen Marsella and Eileen Lannon, his son-in-law Scott Lannon and his former wife Kathleen Teel, as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Amanda Grace Lannon, Brady Robert Lannon and Gavin Teel Marsella, all of Hamilton. Bob is also survived by his brother Gerry and his wife Carol, his brother Tom and his wife Marlene and his brother Paul and his wife Regina as well as ten nieces and nephews.
