Newburyport — Mary G. Mirra, 96, of Newburyport, Mass., originally of Glen Cove, N.Y., died peacefully on March 9, 2014, at her home with hospice.
She was born on November 5, 1917, in Glen Cove, and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Maria Grazia Trofa.
Mary was raised in Glen Cove and San Giorgio del Sannio, Italy. After World War II, she married her late husband, Norino Mirra, and moved to Woburn, Mass., where she raised her two sons and a large extended family. Mary also founded Mirra Co., Inc. with her husband.
She is survived by her sons, Ralph V. and Connie Mirra, and Norino A. and Joanne Mirra; grandchildren, Norino J., Natalie Wright and her husband, Justin, Christopher, Jennifer and Adriana; her nieces, Maria and Vincent Vinciguerra, and Gilda and Antonio Mirra; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be Monday on March 10, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Conte and Twomey- LeBlanc Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport. The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St., Newburyport. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Newburyport.
