Salem — Claire J. Poitras, 72, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at her home, following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Dora (Harris) Poitras.
Born and raised in Salem, she was a graduate of Salem High, Class of ’59. Claire worked for Parker Brothers for 27 years and for Sylvania for three years. She most recently worked part-time for Christy Dry Cleansers of Salem.
Claire was an avid reader, and especially loved traveling. Her travels included Africa, Austrailia, New Zealand, Russia, and many points in Eastern and Western Europe. She loved her family, but also loved her independence.
She is survived by her sister, Lorraine D. Sousa of Salem; four nephews, Robert, John, Stephen, and Thomas Sousa; two nieces, Laurie Green and Lisa Anderson; as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Carol Poitras; and brothers, Robert and Charles ‘Bill’ Poitras; and her nephew, Richard Sousa.
