Danville, NH — Mrs. Helen B. (Lubas) Walker, 79, of Danville, formerly of Salem, Mass., beloved wife of Arthur Walker, died on Sunday, March 9, 2014, in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, N.H., following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Savlon) Lubas. Raised and educated in Salem, Helen was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Polish School and Salem High School, Class of 1951. Helen continued her education, attending Beverly Community College to study accounting and music.
Prior to her marriage, Helen had been employed by M.H. Baker Co. and Almy’s for several years. Most recently, and prior to her retirement, Helen had been employed as a bookkeeper by the Salem YMCA for more than 14 years.
Helen loved music, often playing the piano, however, her greatest pleasure came from singing. For over 65 years, she enjoyed singing in the choirs at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, for the Paul Madore Chorale, Salem, St. Francis Church in Belfast, Maine, and St. Anne’s Parish Hampstead, N.H.
Surviving her. in addition to her loving husband of 62 years. are two sons, Dana Walker and his wife. Elaine. of Atkinson, N.H., and Steven Walker and his wife, Susan, of Hampstead, N.H.; a daughter, Susan Glenn and her husband, Michael, of Linden, Utah; a sister, Frances Orlando and her husband, Paul, of Salem; a brother, Joseph Senkowski and his wife, Rita; two grandchildren, Kara McKiernan and Rebecca McLaughlin; and five great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem/Peabody line, on Thursday, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to meet at the church. Visiting hours will be held in the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
