Danvers — Victor U. Nelson Jr., 82, of Danvers, died on Monday evening, March 17, 2014, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of Claire F. (Cherbuy) (Griffin) Nelson, with whom he shared more than 45 years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on Sept. 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Victor and Rose (Drinkwater) Nelson. He was raised and educated in Salem, and was a longtime Danvers resident. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Nelson was employed as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 103 in Dorchester, until the time of his retirement.
He was a member of the Polish Club in Danvers, the Franco-American Club in Beverly, and the American Legion in Middleton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, David Nelson of New Hampshire, Cindy Cone of Texas, Judith (Griffin) White and her husband, Daniel, of West Barnstable, Robin (Griffin) Helling of Ayer, Kathy (Griffin) Power and her husband, Kevin, of Ipswich, and Shawn Griffin and his wife, Debra (Supino) of Florida; two sisters, Nancy Walor and Helen Armstrong, 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Funeral Service will be Friday, March 21, at 10 a.m., in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited.
