Walter J. Wilkins, 70


Georgetown — Walter J. Wilkins, 70, died on March 17, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born to the late Floyd and Dorothy (Osborne) Wilkins in Topsfield, MA, on July 21, 1943. Walter was a graduate of Masconoment Regional High School, and from there enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his tour with the Air Force he worked for the Town of Topsfield Highway Department and then the Massachusetts State Highway Department, where he retired as a Supervisor after 39 years.

Walter was predeceased by his wife, Priscilla, of 48 years of whom he loved dearly. Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Clarksville, NH. He was loved and respected by all who encountered him.

Walter leaves his sister, Nancy Earabino, formerly of Newburyport, MA; his brother, Charles and his wife, Mae of, Crestview, FL; his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann French and her husband, David, of Boxford, MA and Nancy Curtis and her husband, Patrick, of Londonderry, NH; and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sue.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Georgetown. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Merton E.
