Beverly — Mrs. Janet C. (Black) Hannibal of Beverly, beloved wife of 63 years to the late Russell E. Hannibal, Sr., died Sunday at the Den-Mar Nursing Center in Rockport, she was 89. Born and raised in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (MacFarland) Black. As a homemaker, she was devoted to raising her family. An avid golf player, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening and was a member of the Red Men Association. Janet loved baking and cake decorating, and was known to always have a cake on her table. Above all she mostly enjoyed time spent with her family, grandchildren and her many great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children, Russell “Rusty” Hannibal, Jr. and his wife, Gail, of Honey Creek, IA; Gerald “Jerry” Hannibal and his wife, Janet, of Ipswich, Janet “Cathy” Muise-Spell of Amesbury, Gary Hannibal of Beverly and Beth Oliver and her husband, Craig, of Gloucester. She is further survived by her sister, Lola Rooney; her twenty-two grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Russell, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ramona and Elizabeth.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held in the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly on Monday, March 24, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
