TOPSFIELD — John E. Fraher, 77, died on Friday, March 21, at his home in Topsfield. He was the son of the late John and Olivia (Howley) Fraher. Born in Lynn and raised in Swampscott and Topsfield, John was a graduate of St. John's Preparatory School, Class of 1954. After high school, he attended the New England College of Pharmacy, and later served with U.S. Army Intelligence in East Asia. John owned and operated Mike's Roast Beef in Everett for nearly 30 years, before retiring in 2013. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia; and his brothers, Neil and Paul. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (McCarthy); his five children, Bobby and his partner, Stephen Jones of San Francisco, Calif., Neil of Topsfield, Ellen of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brian of Washington D.C., and John Kevin of Methuen; his sisters, Mary Hoffman and her husband, Jacob, of Ipswich, and Jane Fraher of Topsfield. He is also survived by four nephews and a niece.
John was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield, a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the St. John's Prep Booster Club, a lifelong fan of the New York Football Giants, and a world class traveler.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park Street, Topsfield, on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be a the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, today, Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield.
