Beverly — Nathalie (Berkowitz) Rothblatt entered into rest, March 20, 2013. Born in Salem, on May 19, 1921, to Fred and Fanny Berkowitz.
Nathalie is survived by her older brother, Henry Berkowitz, and was predeceased by her brother, Sidney Berkowitz. Her husband, William (Vic) Rothblatt, predeceased her. She is survived by her close cousins, Eileen and Ralph Edelstein of Beverly; her nephews, Steven and Elliot Berkowitz of California and New York; her nieces, Esther Berkowitz of Boston, and Beverly Jean and Anne Berkowitz of Florida and Beverly; many grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends whom she enjoyed entertaining with her endless family stories.
Nathalie graduated from Salem High School and worked for Sylvania Corporation for 28 years. She then worked for her uncles, Ben and Jacob at Winer Bros. Hardware. After her formal employment she spent many years taking care of friends and relatives. Nathalie and her husband, Vic, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Nathalie considered herself the matriarch of her family, and Nathalie had friends of all ages and was quite the local historian. If you grew up in Beverly or Salem, Nathalie knew your parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Nathalie was famous for her generosity to friends, family, and the extended community. She was a founding member of the North Shore Jewish Historical Society.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services at Temple B’Nai Abraham, 200 East Lothrop Street, Beverly, on Sunday, March 24, at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Sons of Abraham Cemetery, Beverly. Memorial observance following the interment, on Sunday only, at the home of Eileen and Ralph Edelstein.
