Salem, MA — Miss Eileen Judith Greene, 84, of Salem, died Saturday evening May 10 following a brief illness at Grovesnor Park Nursing Home in Salem.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Helen E. (Smith) Greene. She was raised and educated in Lawrence. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School and continued her education at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, graduating in 1950.
Miss Greene had been employed as an office assistant in the public service field for the United States Federal Government for over 46 years until the time of her retirement in 1997.
A resident of The City of Salem since 1969, Eileen was a member of the Colby College Alumni Association and was a loving sister, aunt and god mother who will be deeply missed.
Eileen is survived by her sister, Mary E. Nagle of Methuen; her brothers, Richard J. Greene of Vero Beach, Fla., and James S. Greene of Methuen; several nieces, nephews and extended family including her loving godson, Mike Taylor. She was the sister of the late Thomas F. Greene.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. Visitation period prior to the funeral service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
