Salem — Salem firefighter, Donald R. “Muggsy” Larrabee, 80, husband for 58 years to Carol J. (Stever) Larrabee, died Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013, at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem. Son of the late Daniel and Beatrice (Lemay) Larrabee, he was born in Peabody and was raised and educated in Salem. Following his education, Mr. Larrabee was employed in the Leather Industry until he was appointed to the Salem Fire Department in 1968. He served the City of Salem as a firefighter for 25 years until his retirement.
Mr. Larrabee was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the Sports Haven Golf League and was also a member of the A.O.H Div. 18 in Salem.
In addition to his wife, surviving him are three children, Jodi Laverdiere and her husband, David, of Beverly; Richard Larrabee and his wife, Ann, of Salem; and Dean Larrabee, a Salem firefighter, and his wife, Kathy, of Peabody; his brother, Albert Larrabee, and his wife, Beverly, of Peabody; his sister-in-law, Cora Lee Steever of Salem; and his four grandchildren, Derick and Kerril Laverdiere and Deanna and Alysia Larrabee. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Civitarese and Blanche Fontaine.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (corner of North Street), in Salem on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
