Jeanne T. Rybicki, 85, of Peabody, formerly of Wenham and Salem, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday February 4, 2012. She was the wife of the late Harry Rybicki, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage
Born in New York City, Queens, NY, on June 16, 1926, she moved to Salem as a child.
Jeanne worked as a switchboard supervisor with New England Telephone in Salem until direct dial was introduced in 1958. She then stayed at home to raise her three boys, Steve, Paul and Jim. She was a volunteer at Bishop Fenwick High School for five years. After following her family to Virginia for three years, she returned to spend 25 years as the Activites Director at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers.
Jeanne loved her three children and seven grandchildren and relished every opportunity to be with them. Jeanne was a kind, smart and very caring friend to many and was always there with a smile willing to lend a hand. She possessed the fortitude of a very positive attitude with everyone she met.
Jeanne is survivied by her sons, Steve and his wife Connie and grandchildren Drew and Kelsey of Mount Vernon, VA; Paul and his wife Mary and grandchildren Tim and Andrea of Wakefield; Jim and his wife Anne and grandchildren Brian, Lauren and Scott of Ipswich and many nieces and nephews on the North Shore.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in the Brooksby Village Chapel, Peabody on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the chapel. A visitation will be held in the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. To leave a condolence, please visit www.gonetfuneralhome.com.
