Peabody — Marilyn V. Howell, 73, of Peabody, died peacefully Wednesday evening, with her family by her side, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William H. Howell.
Born in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Virginia (Mears) Armell. She was raised and educated in Vermont, later lived in Salem and has lived in Peabody for the past 46 years.
Marilyn was employed at Medtronics in Danvers as a medical assembler before she retired in 2004.
After her children were grown, Marilyn attended North Shore Community College and received her associate’s degree in liberal arts, then continued taking classes at Salem State in computers.
Marilyn enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and traveling around the countryside, especially during the fall foliage. She also enjoyed listening to country music and Christian music, and her favorite was the Gaithers Brothers.
She is survived by three sons, William W. Howell Jr. and his wife Denise of Nashua, NH, Michael and his wife Susan Howell of Lynn, and Erin Howell and his fiancé Cynthia Degeis of Lynn, her daughter Angela and her husband Gregory Lane of Gloucester, four brothers, Clyde, Sid, Morris, and Roy Armell, all of Vermont, and is also survived by 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son Shannon Howell, and by her siblings, Lestor, Howard, Phillip, and Don Armell and Lee Morin.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Second Congregational Church, Maple St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4until 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Second Congregational Church, 12 Maple St., Peabody, MA 01960. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Salem.
