Salem — Yvonne (Collette) Reidy, 94, of Salem, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 31, 2013, in the Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing facility following a brief illness. Yvonne was the loving wife of the late Joseph M. Reidy with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Marie (Lavoie) Collette. She was a lifelong resident of Salem. Prior to her marriage, Yvonne was employed by CBS Hytron in Salem for several years. Yvonne later began a career that spanned more than 20 years first working as a Matron and then as a Corrections Officer in the former Salem Jail.
Yvonne was a member of St. James Church for many years, was an avid knitter, and enjoyed reading. Her greatest pleasure was being involved with and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
Surviving her are two daughters, Maureen Grocki of Salem and Doreen Reidy of Reading; a sister, Rita Wilson of Salem; two grandsons, Kevin Grocki and his wife, Erin, of Salem, and Matthew Grocki and his wife, Megan, of Portsmouth, N.H.; and five great-grandchildren, Ely Grocki, Aiden Grocki, Hannah Grocki, Molly Grocki, and Maeve Grocki. She was also the sister of the late Patrick Collette and the loving aunt of Robert Wilson, Patrick (Buster) Collette and John (Barry) Collette.
