John N. Colangelo, 96


Beverly — John N. “Barco” Colangelo 96, beloved husband of Doris E. (Grondin) Colangelo, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Essex Park Rehabilitation Center in Beverly.

Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Agnes (Maccalini) Colangelo.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy.

Mr. Colangelo had owned and operated Johnny’s Barber Shop at Gloucester Crossing in Beverly for many years until the time of his retirement.

An avid musician, he enjoyed singing and playing guitar with “Big Band” orchestras.

In addition to his wife, whom he shared 59 years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter, Judith Jorge and her husband, Fernando, of Beverly; a son, James Colangelo and his wife, Denise, of Beverly; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location), Monday, April 8, 2013, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
