Shirley Richard


Peabody, MA — Shirley J. (Arnold) Richard, age 57 years, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Lahey Clinic in Peabody. She was the wife of Daniel J. Richard, and the daughter of the late Richard E. and Lois A. (Lang) Arnold. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was raised in Peabody where she lived her whole life. A graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1974, and Salem State College, class of 1982, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing, Shirley worked as a systems analyst for North Shore Medical Center in Salem. Formerly, she worked in human resources for the Salem VNA.

Shirley was a wonderful wife and mother. Her greatest joy was from taking care of her husband and daughters. She also enjoyed traveling, going to concerts with her husband, going to the beaches, especially in New England and Aruba, walking at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, gardening with her husband and the family dogs.

Besides her loving husband Dan, Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Michelle O’Keefe and her husband Brian, of Groveland, and Kristina Richard, of Peabody, her brother Steven Arnold and his wife Andrea, of Lynn, and her two brothers-in-law, Philip Richard and his wife Alicia, of Lynn, and John Richard, of Minneapolis. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Philip and Sara Richard.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held in the West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson St., Peabody, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
