Frances M. (Mandra) Smith-Studley, 90


Peabody, MA — Frances M. (Mandra) Smith-Studley, 90, wife of the late Ralph Smith, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening April 6, 2013, while in the comforting presence of her family.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Renna) Mandra. She grew up in East Boston, and graduated from Fitton High School. She later attended college for business studies and secretarial skills.

She worked as an administrative assistant for the American Legion Auxiliary at the Massachusetts State House in Boston for many years. She worked until recently as a receptionist at the Rosewood Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody before retiring in 2012.

Frances enjoyed simple family gatherings and expressing her independent spirit by remaining active as long as she was able. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Dort and her husband Joseph, of Warrington, Pa., and Jean Vozella, of Lynnfield; five grandchildren, David Dort, Mary Beth Carroll, Stacia Nekoroski, Tammy MacDonald, and Tania Malone; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the wife of William Studley.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday April 13, 2013, from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Richard’s Church, Danvers, followed by her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
