Anita B. Ouellette, 92


BEVERLY & SALEM — Anita B. Ouellette, beloved wife of the late Leo J. Ouellette, died on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly, where she had made her home for nearly two years. Born in Salem on April 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Saucier) Ouellette. She was raised by her loving stepmother, Leontine (Pinette) Ouellette. She was a graduate of Ste. Anne School in Salem. She received practical nurse training at the Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge. Anita worked for Sylvania Co. in Salem. She loved caring for the elderly, both privately, and while working at the Lynn Medical Center, the LynnView Hospital and the old Shaunnessey Nursing Home in Salem. She also worked at Lynn Hospital and the Kaplan Rehab Center. Anita had strong Christian faith rooted in Catholicism and had been a member of the Assembly of God Church in Beverly since 1977. She loved playing cards, and was a story and joke teller extraordinaire. Her smile and laughter would light up a room.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris M. Villa and Lucille L. Ouellette, both of Beverly; her daughter-in-law, Gail Ouellette of Groveland; and her grandchildren, Diane Zizza of Tamworth, N.H., John Ouellette of Danvers, Christopher Ouellette of Monroe, Conn., Mari Matt of Danvers, Matthew Villa of Raritan, N.J., Sarah Jafari-Ouellette of Beverly, and their spouses. She had 12 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her daughter, Theresa Ouellette; her son, Gerard L. Ouellette of Groveland; her brothers Albanie Ouellette of Salem, Paul Ouellette of Ocala, Fla., and Alcide (Charlie) Ouellette of Salem; and her sisters, Jeanette (Ouellette) Cote of Ocala, Lydia (Ouellette) Petri of Salisbury, and Clarinda (Clare) (Ouellette) Barowy of Rowley.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Saturday, February 22, at 10 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetry, Salem.
