Danvers — Mr. George Ernest Gagnon, 79, beloved husband of Patricia (Teague) Gagnon, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Irene J. (Thibault) Gagnon. George attended St. John’s Parochial School in Peabody and attended Peabody High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Gagnon had been employed by Seaboard Products, Budweiser Distributors of Danvers for 30 years as a Warehouse Manager and Commercial Driver.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, George was a communicant of St. Mary’s Annunciation Church, Danvers and often attend Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers. He was a member and past Vice-President of the Danvers Catholic Mr. and Mrs. Club, the North Shore Old Car Club and was a member of the North Atlantic Packards.
George was an automobile enthusiast owning, maintaining and showing three vintage cars, often appearing in local parades and rallies.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, George is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Gagnon) Billings and her husband, Jack Billings, of Danvers; his grandchildren, Diana (Billings) Godin and her husband, Jason, of Merrimack, NH; Ross Gagnon Billings and his wife, Julie (Hudon), of Danvers and his great-grandchildren, Lila May Billings, Wyatt Seamus Godin and Tristan Mark Billings.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, Sylvan St., Danvers, Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62), Danvers, Friday, Feb. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in George’s memory to the Friends of the Danvers Council on Aging, 25 Stone St., Danvers, MA 01923.
