Danvers — Mr. Michael “Joey” Slavin, age 68, of Danvers, died suddenly in Beverly Hospital on Tuesday morning. He was the beloved husband of Viola F. (Courtney) Slavin.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Joey was the son of the late Thomas J. and Ida M. (Bourque) Slavin. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Boy’s High School Class of 1961. He resided in Lynn before moving to Danvers 35 years ago.
Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement in 2007, he worked as a machinist for the General Electric. After retiring, he worked as a courier for the North Shore Bank in Peabody.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the North Shore Golf League and the G.E. Management League. Mike was also a member of the Tin Can Sailor’s Club and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Courtney Slavin and Michael Slavin, Jr. both of Danvers. He was the brother of Charles P. Slavin of Wakefield, Thomas J. Slavin of Malden and Maureen M. Szabo of Wakefield. Also survived by his nieces, nephews, and his faithful companion, Elvis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mr. Slavin’s funeral service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.. Relatives and friends invited.
