Reading — Edward J. Stanton, a resident of Reading for 45 years, died January 24, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was 85 years of age.
Born in Wakefield, on April 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Bridgett Stanton. He worked as a parts manager in the vending machine industry. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.
He was the beloved husband of Ellen A. (Latshaw) Stanton; devoted father of Edward J. Stanton, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Peabody, Timothy J. Stanton and his wife Ali of Acton, Ellen Lee and her husband Donald of Middleton and Brenda Stanton of N. Reading; cherished brother of John Stanton of Wakefield and loving grandfather of seven.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading, on Tuesday, January 29, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral home visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
