John A. Gray, 82


Wenham — John A. Gray of Wenham, died unexpectedly in Boston on January 23, 2013, aged 82. The son of the late Archibald Edmund Gray of New Hampshire and the late Jeanne Everaerts Gray of Brussels, Belgium, John Alexander Gray was born in Lima, Peru, May 30, 1930.

He is survived by his children, Matthew Edmund Perkin Gray of Seattle, John Mackellar Gray of Gloucester, and Alexandra Talmage Wiberg of Norwalk, Conn. and their spouses; three grandchildren, Georgia Whitney Gray and Logan Talmage Gray of Seattle, and Felix Perkin Dunmore Wiberg of Norwalk, Conn.; his brother, Dr. Charles Edmund Gray of Los Altos, Calif. He is also survived by his former wife, Winifred Perkin Gray of Wenham.

A former resident of New York City and a specialist in Middle Eastern law, Jack graduated from St. Andrew’s School in Delaware, Dartmouth College (1951), and George Washington University Law School. He was a member of the Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, and a former member of the Somerset Club in Boston. “Jack” was an avid golfer and skier, an aficionado of French wines, and he continued to practice international law until his untimely demise. He will be missed by all who knew him.
