Constance M. Duke, 87

BEVERLY — Constance M. (Dowd) Duke, 87, beloved wife of the late Walter E. Duke, with whom she had shared 52 years of marriage, passed away Friday, February 8 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lowell, she is the daughter of the late Francis J. and Mary I. (Gurnon) Dowd.

Connie grew up in Chelsea and Everett and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. For many years, she worked in food services at Beverly Hospital. Connie loved to read and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was funny, spunky and had a terrific happy go lucky way about her. She was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church for over 50 years. Connie most of all enjoyed being with her family. Her family would like to thank the staff in the critical care unit at Beverly Hospital for all their wonderful care and compassion.

She is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Cooper and her husband Curtis of Raleigh, NC, William Duke and his wife Deborah of Wappingers Falls, NY, Stephen Duke Sr. and his wife Elaine of Beverly and Susan Gallagher and her husband Talmadge of Beverly; seven grandchildren: Leigh Tremblay and her husband Erik, Jennifer Cooper, Kristen Duke, Derek Duke and his fiancée Lisa Kochilaris, Stephen Duke Jr. and his wife Erica, Rebecca and Harrison Gallagher; two great grandchildren: Stephen Duke III and Cameron Tremblay; sister-in-law: Doris Sullivan of FL; many nieces, nephews and also extended family in many states and her beloved cat Katie.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Connie’s Memory to the Trask Adult Day Care Center, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960. Information, directions, condolences at
