NAHANT — Rita Eva (Boucher) Grenier, 80, of Salem, MA died Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Nahant, MA at the Jesmond Nursing Home. Rita was the devoted wife of twenty years to the late Robert A. Grenier.
Rita is survived by her eight children: Julia E. Grenier of Salem, MA, Robert D. Grenier of Lawrence, MA, Alfred P. Grenier of Salem, MA, David A. Grenier of N. Berwick, ME, Rita S. Corbeil and her husband Greg Corbeil of Peabody, MA, Richard L. Grenier and his partner Lori Pye Chisholm of Lawrence, MA, Deborah A. Catalfamo and her husband Anthony Catalfamo of Palm City, FL, and Celeste C. Ross and her husband Michael Ross of Salem, MA. Rita was also the best “Memere” to 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, & numerous nieces & nephews.
Rita was born & lived in Salem, MA, daughter of the late Alphonse & Eva Boucher, owner/funeral director of the former Boucher Funeral Home. Rita’s only sibling was the late Arthur P. Boucher of Salem, MA. Rita also took on owner responsibilities after her husband passed away with the running of the former Camera Supply Shop, Essex St, Salem, MA.
Rita’s enormous love & dedication to family was her “everything"! She was an extraordinary cook, baker, & event planner for her family & friends. As a gifted artist, she was even featured in the Salem Evening News depicting a mural of 19th century snowy storefronts. She was an avid crossword puzzle & mystery novel reading enthusiast. Her love of beauty through music, movies, photography, singing, and art, she bestowed on all of her children.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St. Salem, MA (Rt.1A/114), Wednesday, Feb. 13th from 4-7 pm. The funeral will be held at the same location on Thursday, Feb. 14th beginning at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, North St., Salem, MA.
