Emile E. Cormier, 91


Beverly — Emile E. Cormier, 91, died February 8, 2013. Son of the late Mary (Michelon) and Arthur Cormier. Emile was born in Newburyport, MA on March 19, 1921. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving on the USS Gratia, as a fire control man, in the Philippines. He was retired from The United Shoe Machinery Corporation, and in his spare time, visited many homes repairing televisions and radios. Emile was a gourmet cook and loved his garden. Most of all, he enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family. Always quick with his jokes, he loved making people laugh with the “Cormier sense of humor.” He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara in 2004, his son Stephen in 1997, and his brothers Laurence, Lionel, Leonard, William, Arthur, Kenneth, Vernon, and his sisters Maerena, Celeste, Cecelia and Doris. He is survived by his daughter Christine Dresser and her husband Stephen of Virginia Beach, VA, granddaughter Meredith Birdwell and her fiancé Stephen Hatcher of Virginia Beach, VA, and granddaughter Arielle Cormier of Danvers. Also survived by his sister Pauline of Newburyport, niece Meredith Rand and husband Norman of Topsfield, their son Jonathan and wife Estelle, and children of Beverly, loving friends Kevin and Christine Crowley and daughter Brenna of Danvers, and many nieces and nephews. Finally, his beloved cat, “Boy.”

To his many friends and caregivers at Pace and Oceanview of Beverly, his family extends their heartfelt thanks.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held in the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly location, on Wednesday, February 13, at 1PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend and may visit with his family prior to the service from 12PM to 1PM. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wenham Cemetery.
