Salem — Mrs. Hilda E. (Guy) Briggs, 93, of Salem, loving wife of the late Leroy “Bo” Briggs, Sr., with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, died peacefully on November 13, 2013, in the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Beverly following a lengthy illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ernestine (Henrichon) Guy. Hilda and Bo lived in Salem where they raised their family. Hilda was the quintessential homemaker taking great pride in her home and was known for her wonderful cooking.
Hilda is survived by her son, Leroy D. Briggs, Jr., of Lynn; her two daughters, Shirley Sweeney of Swampscott, Janet Lettich and her husband, Mark, of Danvers; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Linda M. Briggs and sister of the late J. Francis Guy, George Guy, John Guy, Blanche Wheelock, Louise Zavaglia, Irene Carbone, and Jeannette Jordan.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
