Manchester-by-the-Sea — Elizabeth “Betty” Sue Day, 76, companion of 31 years to Robert “Flash” Gordon, died on Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Dothan, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Hilda (Milner) Jackson. She was raised and educated in Lake Wales, Fla., before moving to Manchester-by-the-Sea in the early 1960s, where she has since resided.
Betty had been employed for many years as a supervisor at Crosby’s Market in Manchester-by-the-Sea and Brown’s Market prior to that. She also worked as a waitress at the former Surf Restaurant in Magnolia and a bartender at the former Al’s Café in Manchester-by-the-Sea.
Betty loved to dance, was an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with her daughter.
In addition to her companion, “Flash,” she is survived by a daughter, Kimberley Presutti and her husband, Dean, of Byfield; a son, T. Dennison Day of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; her siblings, Billy Jackson, Ann Jackson-Stockton, Margaret Lassiter, Sonny Jackson and his wife, Sandi, Donald Jackson and his wife, Denise, and Ronald Jackson, all of Lake Wales, Fla.; several nieces, nephews; and her grand-dogs, Kaiser and Baxter. She was also the wife of the late Arthur M. Day and sister of the late Larry Jackson.
