Ipswich — Robert Waldner passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family on March 11, 2013. Bob was born in New York on May 2, 1939, to Charles and Susanna Waldner. He attended South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut, and graduated from Princeton University with the Class of 1962. He completed his Masters Degree at Cornell University.
Bob was a management consultant for his entire working life, and specialized in rail- and transit-related projects. He was passionate about his occupation and never fully retired.
Bob was a lifelong and accomplished sailor. He loved nature and was committed to land conservation in Massachusetts and Maine. He was a track-car enthusiast and a handyman. Bob was an active participant in volunteer organizations including the food pantry, Dinner Bell and the Rotary and Lions Clubs in Ipswich.
Bob spent summers at his beloved family house in Hancock Point, Maine, where he was active in various organizations. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith, his loving companion Maria Montanaro from Portsmouth, NH, his son Robert B. Waldner Jr, and his wife Shannon of Glen Ridge, NJ, daughter Beth Beemiller and her husband Ed of Pickerington, OH, and his sister Susie Gordon of Rumson, NJ. Bob also leaves behind eight grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: A visitation honoring Bob’s life will be held at the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, on Friday, March 15, from 4 to 7 pm. A Funeral will be held at the Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County Road, Ipswich, on Saturday, March 16, at 10 am. A reception will follow the funeral service in the Church's Boone Hall. Bob will be buried at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock, Maine, at a later date.
