Mr. Raymond E. Fontana, 81, of Peabody, beloved husband of Jacqueline (Bouley) Fontana, died February 7, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Primo and Yvone (Vadeboncoeur) Fontana. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He continued his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army as an Engineer with the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Fontana had been employed for over twenty years as an Electrical Design Engineer with the Cole-Hersee Company in South Boston until the time of his retirement.
A member of the Salem Sports Car Club and active rally racer, Ray was a skilled card player and had a passion for Jazz music. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his loving wife, Ray is survived by his daughter, Lynne Bailey and her husband Timothy of Carson City, NV, his son Forrest Fontana and his wife Linda of Winchester, his five grandchildren, Kimberly, Kaylee, Kyle, Sara & Amanda, along with several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Farrel Fontana and brother of the late Marie Harrigan.
ARRANGEMENTS: His memorial service will be held in the St. John's Preparatory School Chapel (Administration Building), Danvers, Friday, April 20th at 11am. Relatives and friends invited.
