Salem, Ma — Mrs. Isalina “Isie” (Sa) DiGrande, 83, of Salem, and formerly of Nahant, died on Friday, September 27, 2013, after a brief illness, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Santo DiGrande. She was born in New Bedford, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Francisco and Mary (Mendonsa) Sa. She was raised in New Bedford, and was a 1948 graduate of New Bedford High School. She lived in Nahant from 1971 to 1996, and in Salem since 1996.
Isie was an accountant in a CPA office and also volunteered as an AARP tax volunteer. She was an avid line dancer, loved Broadway shows, and she loved to travel. She was a Boston sports fan, and loved family sporting events. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant, and a member of the Ladies Sodality. She was also a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Salem.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jurczak and her husband, John, of Wakefield; and a son, Charles DiGrande and his wife, Erin, of Nahant; her grandchildren, Margaret, Grace, and Sophie DiGrande of Nahant, and Katherine and Samuel Jurczak of Wakefield; and two sisters, Irene Frasier and her husband, John, of North Dartmouth, Mass., and Adeline Murphy and her late husband, Timothy, of Marshfield; and several nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Norbert Sa, and sister-in-law of Joyce Smith of Winchester.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 3, at 9 a.m., from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Route 1A, Lynn, followed by a Memorial Mass in St Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
