BEVERLY — Napoleon G. Pero, 91, loving husband for 63 years to Maria J. (Patti) Pero, passed away on Friday, October 4, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John and Augustine (Carrier) Pero.
Napoleon grew up in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. Napoleon joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He did tours in the Philippines and Australia, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Upon his return, Napoleon and his sweetheart, Mary, started Pero Oil Co. of Beverly. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Arlene Pero of Beverly, Bobby Pero of Tewksbury, Paul Pero and his fiancée, Leandra Ellis of Salem, N.H.; one sister, Irene Fazio and her husband, Joseph, of Danvers; three grandchildren, Joanna, Angela and Victoria; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Tyler; and his beloved dog, Louie Napoleon. He was predeceased by his son, Anthony Pero; and his siblings, William, Yvonne, Doris, Bea, Adele, Albert, Simon, Eva, and Rose.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
