Boston — Frederick C. Batchelder Jr., 67, died suddenly on August 1, 2013, at his home in Boston. He was born on July 7, 1946, in Salem, Mass., and was the son of the late Margaret (Nichols) Batchelder and Frederick C. Batchelder. For many years, Fred grew up on the Lakeview Public Golf Course in Wenham, which his family owned and operated. He attended Wenham Public Schools, and was a graduate of Mt. Hermon Academy in 1964, and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Fred served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in Vietnam, from 1969 to October 1972. Fred was an certified public accountant for many years in the greater Boston area. He enjoyed sailing on the Charles River with the community boating program.
He is survived by his cousins, Alexander Lamont of Concord, Patricia Cogswell of Danvers, Sandra Gutkowski of Alfred, Maine, Mary Gage Cogswell of Merrimac, Betsey Cogswell of Malden, Ellis Batchelder Weatherly of Connecticut, Charles Batchelder of New Hampshire, and Joseph Batchelder of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, and his cousin, Sarah Cogswell Edington.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held at the Wenham Cemetery on Main Street, Route 1A, in Wenham, on Thursday, October 10, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
