Salem — Mr. Jose Antonio Gomez, 88, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, beloved husband of Maria (Perez) Gomez and the late Maria (Padilla) Gomez, died on Sunday morning, October 13, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Jose and Elvira (Mata) Gomez. He was raised and educated in the Dominican Republic, and immigrated to the United States in 2003. He resided in Salem, and just recently moved to Peabody.
A farmer by trade, Jose enjoyed working with his hands in his beloved Dominican Republic.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jose enjoyed spending his time with his family, walking and dancing.
In addition to his loving wife, Jose is survived by his children, Teresa Gomez of New York, Lidia Gomez of the Dominican Republic, Maria Altagracia Gomez of the Dominican Republic, Maria Elena Gomez of Peabody, Aura Gomez of Peabody, Rosa Gomez of the Dominican Republic, Carmen Gomez of St. Martin, BVI, and Braulio Gomez; his 28 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family, and friends. He was also the father of the late Alfredo Gomez, Juliana Gomez, Ramona Gomez, Julio Gomez, and Maria Altagracia Gomez.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in his beloved Dominican Republic.
