North Andover — Rita L. (Burke) Cyr passed away Saturday, October 27, 2013, at the age of 86 after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Salem, the youngest child of William and Lena (Mailhoit) Burke. After graduating from the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, she wed her husband of 64 years, the late Donald J. Cyr, Sr. They established their home and raised a family in Lynn before relocating to North Andover, and ultimately to the Thompson House, a division of the New England Home for the Deaf. She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Carol Cyr of North Andover, MA; her grandchildren, Michael Cyr of Birmingham, AL, Matthew Cyr of Arlington, MA, Elizabeth Worrell of Arlington, VA; her twin great-grandsons, Ethan and Oliver Worrell; as well as a nephew, two nieces, and three great-nieces. She was a strong presence in all of their lives and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose McCarthy and her brothers, Frank Burke and Leo Burke.
