Ipswich — Janice E. Knowles, 74, passed away on February 26, 2014, at the Essex Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Beverly, MA.
Born in Ipswich on March 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Hilda M. (Hebb) Knowles.
Janice enrolled in the secretarial course and graduated from Lynn Burdett College. She retired as head bookkeeper following 46 years of service at Bernard’s Jewelers in Salem, MA. Janice was a member of Ipswich Council on Aging, and active member of the Methodist Church of Ipswich where she was church treasurer and co-organizer of the Strawberry and Apple Festival. She enjoyed assisting at the Food Pantry, and was co-founder of a support group for cancer patients.
Janice is survived by her brother, Richard Knowles and his wife, Geraldine, of Plattsburg, NY; sister, Eleanor M. Knowles of Ipswich; several nieces, and her dear friend, Sandra Wilson of Ipswich.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral on Tuesday, March 4, at noon, at F.S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Way, Rowley. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment at Highland Cemetery in Ipswich.
