Hazel B. Johnson, 90


Ipswich — Hazel Treloar-Bray Johnson, 90, wife of the late Albert F. Johnson, died early Monday morning, March 3, 2014, in the Hathorne Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danvers. Born in Redruth, Cornwall, England, on May 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Reginald Vincent and Elizabeth Ann (Bryant) Treloar.

Mrs. Johnson was educated in England. She served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service in England during World War II. She worked for 6 years in England as a dental assistant to a dental surgeon. In 1954, she moved to Canada and worked there for 6 years as a dental assistance. After her marriage in 1960, she was employed as a dental assistant in Salem, Mass., for 14 years. Later in her life, Mrs. Johnson became a cook in the Ipswich School System, and would become an assistant manager cook at the Ipswich Middle School.

Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her husband, Albert, on May 16, 1994. She is survived by cousins in England and Scotland; and by many in-laws in the United States.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 2 p.m., at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 45 Central Street, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. An hour of visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1 to 2 p.m., in the church. All are respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Johnson’s name to the Oak Hill Apartments Activity Fund, 35 Central Street, Ipswich, MA 01938. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morris Funeral Home of Ipswich.
