PEABODY — Mary Maxine (Paraskevopoulos) Ziavras, 94, of Peabody, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday evening, Dec. 30, 2010 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem. She was the devoted wife of the late Vasilios P. Ziavras.
Born in Lowell, Mary was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Marigo (Koutros) Paraskevopoulos. She was raises and educated in Dracut. Upon her marriage to Vasilios, she moved to Lynn where she lived for over 24 years. She resided in Peabody for the past 43 years.
Mary worked as an assembler for over 40 years at the Barry Baby Shoe Company in Lynn before retiring many years ago. In her retirement, she enjoyed attending the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center in Peabody. She also enjoyed crocheting and listening to Greek Music. What she cherished most was the time she spent with her family, especially with her granddaughter.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Anne Ziavras of Peabody; her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine H. Ziavras and Norman A. Ohrwashel of New York, N.Y.; her sister, Pota Bouras of Kalamata, Greece; her granddaughter, Alexis and her husband Mark DeVilling; and by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Pappas, and Peter, Chris, and John Paras
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by services at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, at 10 a.m. to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
