Marblehead — Kathleen E. Jones, age 68, of Marblehead, died on Monday, December 17, 2012, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington, following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Edward A. and Jane D. ( Troy ) Jones Sr., She was raised and educated in Marblehead. After attending the Glover School and graduating from Marblehead High School , she became employed in the banking industry.
For over 40 years, she became a leader in the Massachusetts Banker’s Association. One of her hallmarks was the importance to foster education for professionals by establishing the Massachusetts School of Banking and Management. She retired as the Senior Vice President.
She is survived by a sister Barbara Jones of Marblehead, with whom she resided; her cousins Kevin and Kathryn Jones of Danvers, Paul Jones of Marblehead, Deborah Clay of Salem, and Thomas Hartnett and his wife Norma of Groton, MA; a niece Lorelei Jane Temple von Stackleberg and her mother Alexandra von Stackleberg and many friends.
She was predeceased by a brother Edward Jones.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, at 10:15 AM, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 81 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
