Mrs. Joan L. (Stone) Houde, 76, of Beverly, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Houde, died Sunday evening, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Gaumont) Stone. She was raised and educated in Salem and Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School.
A devoted mother, Joan took great pride in raising her five children. Joan was employed as a receptionist with Dr. Thomas Lapine’s medical practice for many years later in her life.
An avid gardener, Joan had a wide circle of friends with whom she enjoyed spending time. Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She relished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Cahoon and her husband Donald of Amherst, LeeAnn Wells and her husband Kenneth of Raymond, N.H., and Michelle Bartlett and her husband Jeff of Southlake, Texas, her sons, Daniel Houde and his fiancé Carol Perry of Salem and Robert Houde and his wife Tricia of Danvers, her twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, her sister, Jackie Brockelbank of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Robert Stone.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62), Danvers, Thursday at 8:15 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Richard Parish, 90 Forest St., Danvers, at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
