Lynn — Daniel L. Crotty, Jr., 76, of Lynn and formerly of Belmont, died Wednesday evening at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Sullivan) Crotty with whom he shared over 49 years of marriage.
Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Mullin) Crotty Sr. He was raised and educated in Belmont, and received his advanced degree from Boston College. He has spent the last 40 years living in Lynn.
Daniel was a professor at Salem State College who taught Teaching for over 40 years before he retired seven years ago. For the past seven years he has cared for his wife who suffered injuries resulting from a car accident seven years ago.
He is survived by a son Kevin Crotty of Peabody, a sister, Maureen Mello of Wellesley, two nieces, Christine Mello of Quincy and Maureen Daly of Stoneham, a nephew, Michael Crotty of North Carolina, a great-nephew, Michael Daly of Stoneham and by his two cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and Jillian.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2 until 5 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker St., West Roxbury.
