GROTON — Joseph Daniel Hutchinson passed away on December 27, 2011 and his life was celebrated by his family on December 30th at St James in West Groton.
For the last 20 years, he made his home in Groton, MA. Joe was born in Beverly Massachusetts, one of five children of Joseph James and Geraldine Hutchinson, graduated from Beverly High School in 1959 and from Boston College in 1963. Joe was a recipient of a football scholarship at BC and drafted by the Boston Patriots upon graduation. He was well known as a superb athlete in both high school and college.
His love of sports and the inherent life lessons never wavered. Prior to retirement, he worked as a sales executive and consultant for various manufacturers including Lever Brothers, CPC International, Thomas English Muffins and food brokers in New England network.
Joe is survived by his wife, Joan; three children: Annette Marie Dolbow, David Joseph Hutchinson and Daniel Joseph Hutchinson; seven grandchildren: LeeAnne Harvey, Alison Howard, Leslie (a/k/a Finny) N Harvey V, Joseph David Hutchinson, Cal Joseph Hutchinson, Camden Rose Hutchinson and his in-law children: Ed Dolbow, Christine Hutchinson, Melissa Hutchinson, Andre Howard; his mother: Geraldine E Hutchinson, sisters: Linda Purdy and Sharon Hutchinson; brother Ronald; nieces and nephews as well as Michael and Linda Goldman, brother and sister-in-law and best friends. He was predeceased by his Dad, Joseph James and his brother, Roger.
He will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather; for his kindness and sense of humor; for his love of nature, sports, travel, music, art and for his sense of family. The family would like to thank Dr John Katzenberg, Dr Amjad Husain and Dr John Carr as well as the staff at Nashoba Valley Medical Center and the staff at Apple Valley Rehab for their care and unfailing kindness to Joe.
