Marblehead — Marie Casademont, 87, a longtime resident of Marblehead, passed away on Monday, April 1, of a long pulmonary illness. She was a loving mother to three daughters who were raised in Marblehead.
She was a reading teacher in the Salem Public Elementary Schools for many years, and received her Master’s in Education from Salem State College. Marie was born to Raymond and Terry Murphy on May 1, 1925, in the Bronx, N.Y.; and attended The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y. She worked in advertising in Manhattan before marrying John Casademont, now deceased. Marie loved children, enjoyed gardening, and particularly loved the ocean. She spent many hours swimming happily off the beaches in Marblehead.
She is survived by her three daughters, Clare Casademont of Houston, Texas; Joan Casademont of Topanga, Calif.; and Tina Casademont of Hamilton, Mass.; and by her sister, Joan Murphy of Marblehead. She had three grandchildren, Isabelle Metz of Houston, Texas; and Harrison and William Larkins of Topanga, Calif.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, at noon on Saturday, April 6. Interment to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
